Henderson 100 grand a week? I just don't get it.

What's all the fuss about him?
I've never seen him boss a game- just run around a lot and not even do anything spectacular or worthy of applause barring the odd goal. Sometimes I don't even hear the commentators mention his name for large portions of a match.
Yet he's probably going to be Liverpool's new captain and soon on £100,000 a week. Is this just the state of the game where a slightly above average player commands that much money and admiration simply because they are English?
I must be missing something... Is he really good enough to play for England, captain Liverpool and earn 100k a week?

I think he's distinctly average.
But then again, i'm probably comparing him to Gerrard.
And there is no comparison.

Up there with Jack Wilshere on there overrated scale. English players hit form and get way over hyped.The same happened to Downing and even Adam Johnson. Henderson is a good player, but he's no Gerrard or Lampard.

He has good vision and creates a lot of chances (that's why Liverpool bought him), and he's energetic off the ball in midfield.
That said, I think his agent has done well to get him £100k a week.

Decent enough but lacks a silky first touch, close control, awareness and plays too slow to be a very top player.

many of my Liverpool supporting mates would rather lose Sterling than Henderson.
They love him up here. Like you say they miss him when hes not there.

rating someone as a decent player and adulation are two very different things. you know this because you used exactly the same tact with anyone that thought sam was a decent manager and anyone that thought beckham was a decent footballer.
you really need to stpo pretending to be a bearded bloke on the Tv program about pubs and get some new material gary.
